Dan Arthur speaks for the Pain Institute Summer Seminar Series. Plugging and abandoning oil & gas wells, whether idle/non-producing wells or orphan wells has entered a new era on many fronts. Today, there are several carbon registries that have developed detailed protocols to plug these wells to permanently eliminate methane emissions. Unlike past practices, emission measurement and quantification is critical, assuring that plugging and restoration activities are permanent is a priority, and there is significant scrutiny on all these practices to gain assurances that results can be trusted. This has spawned new procedures, new technologies, new plugging materials, and more. Mr. Dan Arthur discusses these and other related issues.
